Sound Sparks

Tap any key — a colour pops and a note sings.

What your kid practises: “I did that!” — learning that your action makes something happen

Opens in a new tab. Nothing is sent anywhere while you play.

Why we made it

Every key your kid presses makes a sound and a shape right away. No levels, no score, no menus, nothing to read. There is no wrong button.

It looks like a light show, but it teaches the biggest lesson of being two: “when I do something, something happens.” Everything else — words, counting, letters — grows out of that.

The same key always makes the same shape, note and colour. High notes are always the same colour, so you can say things like “high and yellow!” and your kid will start to hear it too. All notes are chosen so that mashing six keys at once still sounds nice.

How to play together

  1. 1Sit together. Turn on the speakers (not headphones).
  2. 2Let your kid press anything. Space is the big surprise.
  3. 3Say what you see and hear: “pink!”, “high!”, “again?”

Good to know

The toy runs in a browser tab, so a curious kid can still find these:

  • Ctrl+Alt+Del — Windows always lets that through.
  • The browser’s tabs and address bar (unless you use the kiosk launcher from GitHub).
  • Swiping in from the screen edge on touchscreens.
