Palm Grove
Grow twelve palms, key by key. The skyline you build is the melody.
What your kid practises: Comparing side by side: taller, shorter, the same
Opens in a new tab. Nothing is sent anywhere while you play.
Why we made it
Around two, children start noticing which thing is bigger and lining things up. Here they grow twelve palms with their own hands, and the differences stand side by side in a row, where comparing them is unavoidable.
A taller palm sings lower, the way a longer pipe does. So your child hears a palm get bigger, not just sees it.
Nothing ever shrinks, withers, or is lost. A coconut that drops is not gone — it rolls downwind and feeds the nearest palm, so every accident is a gift.
How to play together
- 1Press keys along the bottom row and watch trunks push up. Higher rows add fronds, coconuts, and blossoms.
- 2Press Space — a gust sweeps the grove and every palm sings in turn, so the skyline becomes the tune.
- 3Point at the tall ones together and say “tall” and “taller”. The comparing is the whole point.
Good to know
The toy runs in a browser tab, so a curious kid can still find these:
- Ctrl+Alt+Del — Windows always lets that through.
- The browser’s tabs and address bar (unless you use the kiosk launcher from GitHub).
- Swiping in from the screen edge on touchscreens.
